Stonefield Announce Biggest National Tour Yet In Honour Of New Album
Stalwart Aussie psych-rock troupe Stonefield are following up the release of their lauded sophomore full-length, As Above, So Below, with their biggest run of tour dates so far.
The celebrated four-piece will hit the road from Friday 16 September, when they kick off at Byron Bay's Beach Hotel, taking their hard-rocking roadshow to venues in Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Belgrave, Traralgon, Ballarat, Geelong, Mornington, Phillip Island, Brunswick, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast before heading across to the left coast to perform in Perth and Fremantle. The band will be joined by Georgia Reed for those final two performances in the west, while White Bleaches and RACKETT will provide support for the shows in the east.
"It's been way too long since we have been on the road for a big tour, so we're really excited to get back out there to share our new music with Australia," vocalist/drummer Amy Findlay said in a statement. "RACKETT and White Bleaches are both rad bands, so it's going to be a really fun tour!"
The quartet also have a handful of festival appearances pencilled in over the next few months, with slots lined up at the Mitchell Creek Blues & Rock Festival in Qld and Rolling Stone Live Lodge in Melbourne this September; Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong and Caxton St Festival in Brisbane this October; and Blues At Bridgetown in November.
As Above, So Below was released at the end of July to an enthusiastic critical response, with The Music's Bryget Chrisfield noting that the follow-up to the band's 2013 self-titled effort "surpasses all preconceived notions of the sonic terrain these rockin' sisters can effortlessly traverse".
"From the psychedelic keys and Amy Findlay's impossibly prolonged vocal roars in the album's fittingly titled opener Sister all the way through to closer Eagle with its shimmering cymbals, sustained pace and squally guitar riffs, we're won over," she wrote.
